Fairview Fire Rescue personnel will be responding to off-road emergencies a lot quicker thanks to a $20,000 grant from the CoServ Charitable Foundation. The check was presented Sept. 3 at the Fairview Town Council meeting and will help purchase an all-terrain emergency vehicle.
“We realized we have a big shortcoming in big parts of our district where we can’t get to people in times of emergency,” said Fairview Fire Chief Dick Price.
Difficult-to-reach areas include a portion of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers land on the east side of Lake Lavon, as well as the golf course at the Heritage Ranch development. Earlier this year, rescue crews carrying heavy rescue equipment needed to hike about three-quarters of a mile to respond to an emergency call from the golf course.
The Polaris Ranger 6-by-6 will be equipped with a stretcher, a cardiac defibrillator as well as life-support medicines.
“We certainly appreciate your generosity,” Price said.
CCF Executive Director Dennis Engelke presented the check.
“The CoServ Charitable Foundation was created with first responders in mind,” he said. “Getting safety personnel where they need to be as fast and as safely as possible is a goal worthy of our support.”
